Devil or Victim

The devil is the ultimate enemy, the one that wants to deprive you from entering the kingdom of God, the first blame when something goes wrong; the one father of all evil but the question arising now is if the devil is a bad guy.

You probably asking what’s bringing such thoughts and the motivation for this article stem from a couple of questions and this article provides some answers to this.

·         how evil came into this world

·         why God permitted evil since He could see the beginning from the end

·         why God planted the forbidden tree in Eden

·         why God didn’t just destroy Satan after the fall of man

·         Why he didn’t just forgive Man after the fall.

I’d answer these questions real quick and give you biblical proofs as to how these answers come about.

It’s simple: The Scriptures. The word script was coined out of the word scripture. In essence, all that happened in the bible were in accordance with the scripts of God.

Every script contains characters, some good and some bad and others flow with the tide. So in the scriptures, the devil plays the antagonist and he is the bad guy, the one we want to hate. He is the pawn here, the victim; he is extremely loyal to God.

Before you stop reading calling this rubbish, the only song sang by the heavenly hosts (24 elders precisely) was in Rev 4:11:

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory, honour and power: for thou hath created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and well created.

Like we know, God is a perfectionist and everything he created (man, the devil, the forbidden fruit) are well created and for His pleasure.

From this we can answer the questions:

·         God created evil, a proof is the tree of knowledge, of good and of evil.

·         God permitted evil because He needed evil on earth, so He permitted it. He definitely knew Man was going to fall. He knew the beginning from the end.

·         God planted the tree in Eden as His plan for the fall of man.

·         God didn’t destroy Satan because He is in His plan.

·         God didn’t just forgive man for the reasons above.

Why did God want Man to Fall?

The plan God has for us is of good and not of evil and to bring us to an expected end. (Jer 11:29)

The reason why God wanted sin on earth is because He wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth John 4:24.

The spirit is the final fellowship in heaven and the truth is out of true love, not out of fear of hell or force but genuine love.

We all know God created us in His own image and likeness. So we have the same feelings as God. Let’s examine this scenario:

Your brother had a girlfriend when things were very tough financially. This lady stood by him still things turned around. Then he became rich and had another lady who loved him; who will you advise him to marry?

Most likely the first I guess. That’s the exact reason. Without sin, we don’t have any challenge and we would all worship God without really loving Him but everyone that will fellowship with God eventually in heaven are those that loved Him despite the challenges and travails of earth.

So without sin, we might not worship God in truth by more of ‘no choice’.

The devil is a puppet of God. He’s the ultimate follower of God. He is the one willing to accept his fate (one that will eventually lead to damnation) without complaining.

Proof the devil is not an enemy of God

·         Satan came to the presence of God to present himself (Job 1:6) and remember that only those with a pure heart can see God (Matthew 5:8). So we can see the devil has a pure heart but with sin. Topic for another day.

·         The devil is what I’d call a dark angel. Dark angels are angels created for destruction. One notable dark angel is the angel of death that killed the first born of all the Egyptians and also the one used in 2 Samuel 24:12-17. These are angels with specific destroying roles all used by God

In summary, God wants us to love Him irrespective of sin and he has a big plan for us when we dwell with him. The devil is carrying the plan of God but He is not your friend.
